Interior Ministry employee detained in Bulgaria for spying for Russia
He passed information to a Russian embassy official on how to circumvent sanctions against Russia

An officer of the Interior Ministry's organised crime unit was arrested in Bulgaria on Monday, suspected of passing classified information to a Russian spy.
According to the Bulgarian press, the employee of the General Directorate for the Fight against Organised Crime, whose name has not been disclosed, is accused of passing information about his department's investigations, including the circumvention of sanctions against Russia, to an employee of the Russian embassy.
Interior Ministry Chief Secretary Zhyvko Kotsev told reporters that the detainee had been under surveillance for several months. Kotsev confirmed that the case was about spying for Russia.
The embassy employee for whom the detainee was working, according to investigators, had previously been expelled from Bulgaria.
According to the Bulgarian press, Bulgarian counterintelligence received initial information about the possible espionage from foreign colleagues.
