Biden blames Republicans who oppose funding for Ukraine: "They are playing into Putin's hands"
The President stressed that if this law does not pass through Congress, "the American people will know why it did not pass"

US President Joe Biden addressed the US Congress on Tuesday and called for the approval of a national security bill that would strengthen the US border and provide assistance to Ukraine and Israel, Radio Liberty reports.
President Biden criticised Donald Trump and Republicans in the House of Representatives.
"Everything indicates that this bill will not even be submitted to the Senate. Why? There is only one reason – Donald Trump," the President said.
The US President once again stressed the importance and urgency of adopting this law.
"As you can see, my tie and my badge have elements of the Ukrainian flag, this country is suffering from a brutal invasion, every day, every month of delay means that they have less artillery, less ability to defend themselves against a Russian attack, and that's what Putin wants. The Ukrainians are fighting bravely, and I know that many of you are following this. We have organised a coalition of 50 countries, we have united NATO... we cannot turn away. Supporting this bill is standing up to Putin. If we do not stop his appetite, he will not stop in Ukraine, and the costs for the United States and its partners will increase. History is watching, history is recording, and the failure to support Ukraine at this critical time will never be forgotten," Joe Biden said.
The President stressed that if this law does not pass through the Congress, "the American people will know why it did not pass".
"I will make this issue the theme of my election campaign. Voters will know that the moment we were finally ready to close the border and fund all these other programmes, Trump and the Republicans said no. Because they are afraid of Donald Trump," the US president warned.
"The clock is ticking," Biden said. Speaking about support for Ukraine, he said: "We can't leave now. Putin is betting on it. To support this bill is to stand up to Putin. To oppose it means to play into Putin's hands."
"We are a great nation, but we are not behaving like a great nation," he concluded.
As previously reported, in October last year, US President Joe Biden sent a request to Congress for $61.4 billion in financial assistance to Ukraine for a year, as well as $14.3 billion to strengthen Israel's defence.
