Hackers hacked 3 million smart toothbrushes and used them to launch a DDoS attack
Almost any device connected to the Internet can be hacked and used for an attack, experts say

Hackers have hacked about 3 million smart toothbrushes and assembled them into a botnet, which was used to organise a DDoS attack on the website of a Swiss company.
Source. This is reported by The Insider with reference to Aargauer Zeitung.
According to the newspaper, the attack caused the company's website to crash, which caused millions of dollars in losses.
According to experts, the software of the toothbrushes, whose brand is not specified in the publication, was written in Java and for this reason was particularly vulnerable.
These devices were connected to the Internet to collect data on how their owners brush their teeth in order to advise them on how to do it more efficiently. However, this connection allowed them to be infected with malware and used for DDoS attacks.
Cyber expert Stefan Zurger explained to the publication that almost any device connected to the Internet can be hacked and used for an attack. Hackers are looking for vulnerabilities in their software, and manufacturers are trying to close these vulnerabilities as quickly as possible.
Earlier, 1,500 experts surveyed on the eve of the Davos Economic Forum agreed that cyberattacks will be the second most dangerous threat to society over the next two years. They put disinformation in the first place.
