Biden calls for urgent approval of funds for Ukraine
House of Representatives spokesman Mike Johnson said the document is likely to be rejected

U.S. President Joe Biden has called on the House of Representatives to urgently approve a bill to allocate funds to support Ukraine and Israel.
"We cannot afford to wait any longer. The cost of inaction is growing every day, especially in Ukraine. We're already seeing reports that Ukrainian troops are running out of ammunition on the front lines, while Russian troops continue to advance and Putin continues to dream of enslaving the Ukrainian people," Biden said.
"It's time for the House of Representatives to take action and send this bill to my desk immediately so I can sign it," he added.
Earlier, the bill was passed by the US Senate, but House spokesman Mike Johnson said the document was likely to be rejected.
"House Republicans have made clear from the very beginning of the debate that any so-called supplemental national security legislation must recognise that national security begins at our own border," Johnson said in a statement.
Background. As reported, the US Senate supported the allocation of $95 billion to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. More than $60 billion of this is earmarked for Ukraine.
