Australia imposes sanctions on Kirkov, Kandelaki and 100 other Russian citizens and companies
The blacklist includes 55 individuals and 37 organisations

Australia has expanded sanctions against Russia on the anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine: 55 individuals and 37 organisations have been added to the blacklist, the country's Foreign Ministry said, as cited by The Moscow Times.
The restrictions include governors of Russian regions and senators (deputies).
The sanctions also targeted propagandists, including Tina Kandelaki, deputy head of Gazprom Media and director of TNT, Channel One TV presenters, and political analyst Sergei Karaganov, who suggested a nuclear strike on Europe.
Sanctions were also imposed on Nikolai Rastorguev, lead singer of the band Lyube, Nikolai Baskov and Philip Kirkorov. The latter two have travelled to Donbas many times since Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Biker Zaldostanov was also blacklisted in Australia.
Sanctions against legal entities affected the defence, energy, media and mining sectors of the economy. Restrictions were imposed on the Unarmy, Rosgeologia, Kaluga Radio Engineering Research Institute, Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau and Vityaz Machine Building Company.
Australia also targeted members of Russian procurement networks in Belarus, Iran and North Korea.
Foreign Minister Penny Vaughan reminded that Australia has already imposed more than 1,200 sanctions against Russia over the two years of the war. In addition, the government has spent a total of $960 million to support Ukraine. $780 million of this was spent on military aid.
Background. The day before, Biden announced more than 500 new sanctions against Russians, including those associated with Navalny's imprisonment.
