Poland joins Czech initiative to purchase shells for Kyiv
The participating countries managed to raise funds for the purchase of the first batch of 300,000 shells from third countries in a month

Warsaw is participating in Prague's initiative to purchase shells for Ukraine, Bloomberg reported, citing Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski.
"Yes, we are participating," Sikorski said at a business breakfast in Washington on Tuesday, adding that it would involve a significant financial contribution from Warsaw.
Last week, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said that the countries participating in the Prague initiative had managed to raise funds in just one month to purchase the first batch of 300,000 artillery shells for Ukraine from third countries.
In mid-February, at the Munich Security Conference, Czech President Petr Pavel announced the country's intention to supply Ukraine with 500,000 155 mm and 300,000 122 mm artillery shells within a few weeks, provided that the necessary funds are raised.
In total, 18 European countries have joined the Czech initiative.
Background. As reported, Ukraine's allies have already raised funds to purchase 800,000 shells. In March-April, the ammunition may be delivered to the frontline.
