WP: Production of NATO-standard shells in Ukraine will not start before July
This was reported by a source in Ukroboronprom

In the coming months, Ukraine will not be able to launch its own production of 155 mm calibre shells required for Western artillery systems. These shells are sorely lacking at the frontline, but their production in Ukraine can begin no earlier than "the second half of this year".
Source. This was reported by the American newspaper The Washington Post, citing a representative of the Ukrainian state-owned concern Ukroboronprom.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, declined to provide further details due to the secrecy of national security issues.
The 155 mm ammunition is a NATO standard used in artillery guns in service with many countries around the world. The Ukrainian Armed Forces can use 3,000 to 6,000 of these shells daily, military experts have previously estimated.
Ukraine, which has been defending itself against a full-scale Russian invasion for more than two years, has been receiving these shells from a number of countries, but needs a much larger number.
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Kyiv has received more than 2 million 155 mm shells from the United States alone.
A few weeks ago, the Czech Republic announced that it would provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with up to 500,000 155 mm artillery shells and 300,000 122 mm shells in the near future.
Negotiations on purchases from third countries have been underway at Prague's initiative since early 2022.
On 19 March, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius announced a new €500 million military aid package for Ukraine, which will include 10,000 rounds of ammunition from the Bundeswehr's stockpile.
In addition, Germany will pay for the purchase of another 180,000 shells for the Ukrainian army, and has signed a contract for the production of 100,000 155mm shells, the German Defence Minister added.
It was also reported that by 2025, the German concern Rheinmetall will build a shell factory in Ukraine.
