US proposes to issue $50bn in bonds from frozen Russian assets to help Ukraine - Bloomberg
Discussions are still at an early stage

The United States has proposed issuing $50bn in government bonds using proceeds from Russia's frozen assets to help Ukraine, Bloomberg reports.
"The US has proposed that G7 allies create a special mechanism to issue at least $50bn of bonds backed by the proceeds of Russia's frozen sovereign assets. The proceeds from the bonds will be used to support Ukraine," the agency said, citing sources, adding that the discussion is at an early stage.
Kyiv's allies are actively discussing options for using Russia's frozen assets to help Ukraine. Among other things, the two-day summit of European Union leaders taking place in Brussels is dedicated to this issue.
Background. The day before, it was reported that the European Commission proposes to send Ukraine about €3 billion in proceeds from frozen Russian assets. 90% of this amount will be used to buy weapons for the needs of the Armed Forces, and the rest will be used to rebuild the country.
