Ukraine strikes with British Storm Shadow at the headquarters of Russian troops in Luhansk
The strike by Ukrainian aviation was called "heavy" for the Russian armed forces

Ukraine has fired British Storm Shadow cruise missiles at a Russian military headquarters in occupied Luhansk, a military source told Sky News.
The Storm Shadow missiles, launched by Ukrainian aircraft, hit the Russian ground forces command base on Saturday 13 April. According to the source, it was a "heavy blow" for the Russian armed forces.
"This strike contributes to Ukraine's efforts to liberate the Luhansk region from Russia's illegal invasion and prevent further advance of Russian troops in Ukraine," the source said.
According to the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the loss of the headquarters will affect Russia's ability to command its forces in the adjacent Luhansk region.
"Strikes on the nodes of Russian military command and control are creating confusion among the Russian ground forces," the source said.
"Russian military culture relies on micromanagement and centralised command, which means that the destruction of such a headquarters could paralyse military decision-making for the next month," the report said.
The Ukrainian operation also revealed weaknesses in Russian air defence, the source said.
"The destruction of this headquarters will be a heavy blow to the Russian army and shows that Ukraine still retains the ability to attack the Russian army wherever it operates," the source said.
On Saturday, the commander of the Ukrainian Air Force posted a message on Telegram about air strikes on a Russian facility in Luhansk region.
"I thank the pilots of the Air Force for the successful, and most importantly, effective strike on the enemy's facility in Luhansk region on 13 April 2024," Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk wrote.
"Ukrainian pilots coped with the task perfectly and returned to the base," he wrote.
Background. Today it became known that explosions occurred in Berdiansk at the Pivdenhydromash plant – local residents report two hits on the plant's territory with Storm Shadow missiles.
