"Direct order of the President": US State Department confirms long-range missiles to Ukraine
The department stressed that the missiles will be used "on Ukrainian territory"

The United States has sent Ukraine long-range ATACMS missiles for use on Ukrainian territory, the State Department has announced.
"I can confirm that the United States has provided Ukraine with ATACMS long-range missiles at the direct direction of the President," State Department spokesman Vedant Patel told reporters, adding that the missiles arrived in Ukraine in April.
Meanwhile, Reuters and Associated Press sources reported that the missiles were first used in the early morning hours of 17 April, when they were launched at the Dzhankoy airfield in temporarily occupied Crimea, which is about 165 km from the Ukrainian front line.
An AP source said the strikes also targeted Russian troops in the occupied territory.
The AP sources said a "significant" number of ATACMS were delivered in March, with more missiles to be provided as part of a new military aid package announced by the Pentagon on Wednesday.
Background. Earlier, Mind reported that, according to CNN, most of the weapons intended for Ukraine from the US aid package are already in warehouses in Germany and Poland, which will speed up the delivery process after the relevant law is approved. Artillery ammunition should be among the first to be delivered.
