Washington has allocated $6 billion for military aid to Ukraine - one of the largest packages in history

The United States has today allocated $6 billion in military aid to Kyiv. This was announced by Pentagon Secretary Lloyd Austin after a regular meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defence in the Ramstein format.
These funds will allow Washington to purchase weapons for the Ukrainian Armed Forces from American companies, he said.
"I am pleased to announce $6 billion in assistance to Ukraine. This will help us purchase weapons made in the United States.
This is the largest aid package ever. It will include critical interceptors for the NASAMS and Patriot systems. More drones and other equipment. Large quantities of artillery ammunition and surface-to-air missiles. To ensure that this assistance is put on a sustainable basis," Austin said.
The order will include
- ammunition for Patriot, HIMARS, NASAMS systems;
- artillery ammunition;
- weapons to combat UAVs;
- air-to-ground missiles for fighter aircraft.
