The British Ministry of Defence estimated the losses of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine at 450,000 killed and wounded

According to The Insider, the UK's shadow defence secretary, John Healey, asked about Russian army losses in Ukraine and, according to ukdj (British Defence Journal), received the following response from Leo Dockerty, parliamentary under-secretary of state for the armed forces:

"We estimate that around 450,000 Russian troops have been killed or wounded, and tens of thousands more have deserted since the conflict began.

The number of killed servicemen who served in Russian private military companies (PMCs) is unclear.

We estimate that more than 10,000 Russian armoured vehicles have been destroyed, abandoned or captured by Ukrainians, including about 3,000 main battle tanks, 109 aircraft, 136 helicopters, 346 unmanned aerial vehicles, and 23 naval vessels of all types."

In February, The New York Times, citing a Pentagon source, estimated the losses of the Russian Armed Forces in killed and wounded in Ukraine at 300,000 people. At the same time, the wounded are being brought back into service as soon as possible, regardless of their physical capabilities.

Earlier, the Russian BBC service calculated the average life expectancy of a Russian prisoner in the war using open data. According to their data, it turned out that in Wagner's PMC, 50% of former prisoners died in the third month of service, and in the Russian Ministry of Defence's Storm Z/Storm V units – in the second month.
