"Ukrenergo receives EUR 45 million from Germany to restore energy infrastructure
The funds will be used for high-voltage equipment and restoration of facilities in the central region after the Russian attacks

On Thursday, 9 May, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, CEO of NPC Ukrenergo, and Veronika Garcia del Arco, KfW's Director for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia, together with Lorenzo Gessner, Head of KfW's Representative Office in Ukraine and Moldova, signed a €45 million grant agreement with the German Development Bank KfW, the company's press service said on its telegram channel.
The signing took place during a meeting between Svenja Schulze, Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany, and Herman Halushchenko, Minister of Energy of Ukraine.
"We are sincerely grateful to the German government and KfW for the financial assistance provided. These funds will be used to build a new high-voltage line that will increase the stability of our connection to the European energy system," said Volodymyr Kudrytskyi.
He stressed that part of the funds will be used to purchase high-voltage equipment and restore facilities in the central region after the Russian terrorist attacks.
In general, with the support of KfW, during the period of military aggression by Russia, NPC Ukrenergo has attracted more than EUR 177 million in loans and grants to restore and develop the electricity transmission network, the statement said.
Background. As a reminder, the day before, Kudrytskyi said that after the attack on 8 May, electricity imports from Europe could not cover the deficit caused by Russian strikes, so the deficit in electricity generation in Ukraine is quite large.
