Syrsky: defence line near Kharkiv not broken, but heavy fighting ahead
According to him, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have an advantage in attack UAVs in combination with the use of electronic warfare

Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said on 17 May that the defence line in Kharkiv region had not been breached, but that Russia had expanded the combat zone by almost 70 km and was trying to force Ukrainian forces to use reserve brigades.
"The enemy has expanded the area of active hostilities by almost 70 kilometres, thus trying to force us to use an additional number of reserve brigades," he wrote on his telegram channel.
"The enemy launched an offensive much earlier than planned when they noticed our troops being redeployed, but they failed to break through our defences. However, we understand that there will be heavy fighting ahead and the enemy is preparing for it," the commander-in-chief said.
Syrsky noted that he had visited one of the battalions defending Vovchansk, "on the spot he made all the necessary decisions to ensure the stability and effectiveness of the defence".
He emphasised that the Ukrainian Armed Forces should make the most of their advantage in attack UAVs in combination with the use of electronic warfare and accurate artillery fire.
"My work has been dedicated to these issues, as well as to the regrouping of troops and the simplification of the comprehensive support system," added Syrskyi.
He also thanked the leadership of the regional military administrations for "providing maximum assistance to commanders and unit commanders in resolving all problematic issues."
Background. As a reminder, the day before, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the whole world was to blame for the situation near Kharkiv, but now he could help. The President stressed that two Patriot systems are needed to protect the city from occupation.
