Australia imposes sanctions against 6 Russian companies involved in transporting weapons from North Korea
The country's Foreign Ministry stressed that the supply of weapons from the DPRK is a "gross violation" of several UN Security Council resolutions

The Australian authorities have imposed financial sanctions on six Russian companies involved in the supply of weapons from North Korea used in the war against Ukraine.
Source. This was announced by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs in a press release.
The Australian Foreign Ministry did not specify which companies were subject to the restrictive measures.
"Australia condemns in the strongest possible terms the illegal export of North Korean ballistic missiles by the DPRK and Russia's acquisition and use of North Korean ballistic missiles in support of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine. Russia's use of North Korean ballistic missiles increases the suffering of the Ukrainian people, supports Russia's illegal and immoral war of aggression and undermines the global non-proliferation regime," the statement said.
The Australian ministry stressed that the supply of weapons from North Korea to Russia is a "flagrant violation" of several UN Security Council resolutions.
"North Korea must fully comply with UN Security Council resolutions to fully, irrevocably abandon its illicit weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles," the statement said.
Background. As a reminder, South Korean media recently reported that the DPRK has sent nearly 7,000 containers of shells to Russia since September 2023. They would contain approximately 3 million 152-mm artillery shells or 500,000 122-mm shells.
