Western intelligence: Russia has increased the number of sabotage attacks in Europe to disrupt arms supplies to Ukraine
Individuals suspected of working for Russia could also be planning attacks on US military bases

Intelligence officials from the United States and its allies are tracking an increase in the number of sabotage operations in Europe that they attribute to Russia.
Source. This was reported by The New York Times.
According to Western intelligence agencies, these operations may be part of a Russian campaign aimed at undermining support for Ukraine in the war against Russia.
According to the newspaper, Russian intelligence services carried out arson attacks on various facilities. These included a warehouse in England, a paint factory in Poland, houses in Latvia and an IKEA furniture store in Lithuania.
But the individuals suspected of working for Russian Federation could also be planning attacks on US military bases.
According to NYT's European and American officials, the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces (GRU) is behind this campaign.
Through such operations, Russia is trying to force European countries to improve the security of the entire chain of arms supplies to Ukraine, which will increase defence spending and slow down the pace of aid to Kyiv.
According to DW, Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas recently accused Russia of waging a "shadow war against all European countries".
"It wants to really intimidate the free world to scare us away from helping Ukraine," she said during a meeting of the Baltic Council of Ministers.
"We should not be afraid," Kallas added.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk also spoke about Russia's possible involvement in the sabotage. According to him, there are currently 12 people in custody in the country who are suspected of preparing sabotage on Polish territory at the request of Moscow.
He also said that Russian intelligence services may have been "involved" in a major fire in a shopping centre in northeastern Warsaw. The fire destroyed 1400 retail outlets.
Background. As reported, Polish authorities detained people who were preparing sabotage on Russia's orders. In recent days, Poland has seen five or six serious fires in different parts of the country.
