May, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a bilateral security agreement with Portugal during his working visit to the country.

‘Today, another security agreement for Ukraine is signed with Portugal. Together with Prime Minister Luiz Montenegro, we signed a bilateral agreement on security cooperation,’ the Head of State said in his telegram channel.

In addition, the agreement sets out the amount of support for Ukraine for this year.

Portugal's participation in the F-16 Coalition, the International Maritime Security Coalition, as well as in the programme for the purchase of large-calibre ammunition, mine clearance and maritime security efforts was confirmed.

‘It is truly an honour for Ukraine and Ukrainians to be welcomed in Portugal today. I thank each and every one of you who greeted the Ukrainian delegation from the windows of their homes and on the streets. Thank you for this warmth, Portugal!’ Zelenskyy added.

Earlier in the day, Ukraine and Belgium signed a bilateral agreement on security cooperation and long-term support for Kyiv in repelling Russian aggression.

Zelenskyy signed the same agreement with Spain the day before in Madrid.

Belgium and Portugal are the 11th and 12th countries with which Ukraine has signed a bilateral security agreement, respectively, along with the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Denmark, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Finland, Latvia, and Spain.
