The Wagner Group has misappropriated natural resources in many African countries and conducted militant operations around the world, including in Ukraine, the statement said.

The United States is imposing sanctions on two organisations for assisting the Kremlin-backed Wagner Group in its malign activities in Africa.
Source. This is stated in a statement by the US State Department.
Mining Industries SARLU and Logistique Economique Etrangere SARLU, both based in the Central African Republic, played an important role in enabling the Wagner Group's illegal activities, according to a press statement by Matthew Miller, a State Department spokesman.
Russia's Wagner Group has committed widespread human rights abuses and misappropriated natural resources in many African countries.
As the Kremlin's proxy military force, the Wagner Group has conducted combat operations around the world, including as part of Russia's brutal war against Ukraine, the State Department said.
‘These sanctions reflect our efforts to counter the Wagner Group's destructive and destabilising presence in Africa,’ Miller said.
He added that the United States remains committed to deterring and stopping Russia's destabilising activities.
Background. As a reminder, in January, the SBU detained a Wagnerian who was preparing strikes to cut off power to Kyiv. He was caught red-handed while installing GPS trackers on power lines.
