Norway, Sweden and Finland to create a transport corridor for the transfer of personnel
The corridor will run through the north of Scandinavia

Norway, Sweden and Finland will create a joint transport corridor for military use. It will make it possible to transfer personnel from Norwegian ports to Sweden and Finland much faster if necessary, the three Nordic countries announced at a defence summit taking place on Thursday (20 June) in Bude, Norway.

This decision is a response to the potential need to deploy armed forces across borders. The route will be laid through the northern regions of the three countries.
"Now that we are all in NATO, we can cooperate in a completely different way to protect each other," Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said at a press conference.
According to him, previously, when planning the movement of personnel and military equipment, Northern European countries used to follow routes from north to south.
"Now we will focus more on the east-west direction," the head of the Norwegian government said.
After Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Finland and Sweden jointly applied to join NATO. Finland became the 31st member of the alliance in 2023, while Sweden joined in March 2024, overcoming Turkey's opposition.
Background. According to Finnish media reports, Finland provides Ukraine not only with old weapons from warehouses, but also with new products from the Finnish defence industry. Some of the samples are still under development.
