Ukrainian partisans claim sabotage on railway in Rostov region
This is one of the main railways in the region, used to transport military equipment and personnel to the frontline

On 9 July, the Atesh guerrilla group sabotaged a key railway link between Rostov-on-Don and the temporarily occupied Mariupol, which was used by the Russian military.
Operative Ateş burned a relay cabinet near the Russian town of Shakhty, the guerrillas said, publishing alleged footage of the sabotage without specifying a date.
Russia has started building new railway links to connect Russia with Crimea and other temporarily occupied territories in southeastern Ukraine.
The aim is to reduce the dependence of the Russian military on the Kerch bridge and the ferry crossing connecting eastern Crimea with the Krasnodar region of Russia, which have proven vulnerable to Ukrainian attacks.
In mid-June, Petro Andriushchenko, an adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, said that the railway line between Rostov-on-Don and the occupied Ukrainian city was almost complete.
"This is one of the main railways in the region, connecting Russia with the Donetsk region. It is actively used to transport military equipment and personnel to the frontline," the Atesh movement said on Telegram.
"We continue to fight the invaders with all our might, and the number of our sabotage attacks will increase every day," the guerrillas added.
The Atesh movement claims to be active both in the occupied territories of Ukraine and in Russia itself.
Over the weekend, the Atesh guerrillas claimed to have successfully sabotaged a railway line near the Russian city of Yekaterinburg, stopping trains used to transport North Korean munitions.
The group also claimed to have successfully infiltrated a Russian air base in Voronezh in June.
Background. In May, the media reported that the Crimean bridge has not been used to transport military supplies for three months, so it may no longer be an effective military target for Ukrainian troops.
