Increase in missile attacks on Ukraine aimed at weakening Ukrainian air defence – British intelligence

russia has begun to use unarmed drones more frequently, "which are relatively cheap and have sufficient range to fly over the cruise missiles’ targets"

The russians have intensified missile strikes deep into Ukrainian territory in order to exhaust Ukraine's air defence.

This is reported by the UK Ministry of Defence, referring to intelligence data.

Analysts note that russia has begun to use unarmed drones more often during missile strikes. Among them are the russian-made SuperCam UAVs, "which are relatively cheap and have sufficient range to fly over the cruise missiles’ targets."

"russia has highly likely adopted this tactic in an attempt to obtain more timely battle damage assessment and improve its targeting cycle," the UK Ministry of Defence notes.

According to British analysts, the slow and ineffective targeting process was a major weakness of the russian military in their actions in Ukraine.

"However, slow surveillance UAVs are highly vulnerable to Ukrainian air defences," the UK Ministry of Defence states.

Background. Last night, the enemy launched another massive drone attack on the northern regions of the country, including Kyiv Oblast. There is also ongoing terror in the frontline and border areas with russia. In Donetsk Oblast, due to shelling, 5 populated localities are without electricity, 5.3 thousand consumers were left without power.

Last night, Ukrainian defenders destroyed four Shahed UAVs in the East.
