Duda accuses the German government of violating its promise to supply tanks
He stresses that Germany takes too little action to help Ukraine

The President of Poland Andrzej Duda accuses Germany of violating its promise to supply Warsaw modern Leopard tanks in exchange for those handed over to Ukraine.
“Germany has promised to supply these tanks. But you have not kept that promise. And to be honest, Poland is very disappointed,” Duda said in an interview with WELT-TV on the backstage of the Davos Forum, harshly criticizing the behavior of the federal government.

The government in Berlin promised Poland Leopard tanks instead of the existing Polish tanks that are being supplied to Ukraine.
“We have provided Ukraine with a large number of tanks because we believed it was our responsibility as a neighbour,” Duda said. This weakened Poland's own military potential and reduced its military reserves. That is why Poland hoped for support from NATO, as well as the United States and Germany.
“Germany has promised to upgrade most of our tank arsenal with German tanks such as Leopard ones. So if we were supported by Germany, if we received a replacement, we would be very happy,” said the Polish President. Such a promise was made, but not fulfilled, he stressed.
In general, the German government takes too little action to help Ukraine, Duda said: “First of all, Germany itself should help Ukraine. Ukraine really needs this help.”
Due to the lack of action from the side of Germany, Poland intervened with the supplies of tanks from its side, said the Polish President.
