Background. On March 1, the russians surrounded and blocked Mariupol. Since the end of April, Ukrainian fighters have been defending themselves on the last bridgehead, the Azovstal plant. On May 16, it was decided to leave the facility, and the military was taken prisoner. According to British intelligence, about 1,700 Ukrainian servicemen left Azovstal.
