Ukrainian writer Andriy Kurkov is longlisted for the Booker Prize 2023
The novel Jimi Hendrix Live in Lviv was longlisted along with 12 more books
Ukrainian writer Andriy Kurkov has been longlisted for this year's Booker International Prize with his novel Jimi Hendrix Live in Lviv.

"Shot through with Kurkov’s unique brand of black humour and vodka-fuelled magic realism, Jimi Hendrix Live in Lviv is an affectionate portrait of one of the world’s most intriguing cities," the prize website commented on the novel.
The list includes 13 books in total. The shortlist of 6 books will be announced on Tuesday, 18 April, and the winner of the Booker International Prize will be announced at a ceremony at the Sky Garden in London on 23 May 2023.
It is noted that Mr. Kurkov used to be a journalist, cameraman and screenwriter. His most popular work is the novel Death and the Penguin, which has been translated into dozens of foreign languages and has become an international bestseller. In 2009, Mr. Kurkov was himself a judge of the Booker Prize.
Moreover, he promised not to write in russian anymore and is actively telling the world about the war waged by russia against Ukraine.
