Ukrainian forces push Russian troops back from key road in Bakhmut, Ukrainian officer says
But he noted that the fighting is extremely fierce

Russian troops have been pushed out of a key road in the city of Bakhmut, Donetsk region, one of the Ukrainian military commanders, Yuriy Fedorenko, said on Saturday.
Source. This was reported by CNN.
Ukrainian soldiers managed to push the enemy away from the "road of life" in Bakhmut for a considerable distance, making it impossible to keep the road under Russian fire control, Yuriy Fedorenko said.
Ukrainian troops have "improved their positions" in the city, Fedorenko added, although he acknowledged that "the fighting is tough."
According to him, Ukraine is "holding the line in the most difficult areas" and has had some tactical successes.
According to Fedorenko, Russian troops "are constantly storming the Bakhmut direction and are constantly trying to advance."
Background. As reported, the Russian offensive on Bakhmut has largely stalled due to the depletion of the occupiers' forces. Instead, the Russians have shifted their operational focus from Bakhmut to Avdiivka and Kreminna-Svatove, according to British intelligence.
