At the same time, the US president is in no hurry to publicly announce his participation in the election. According to another source, he wants to preserve the possibility of changing his mind.
According to NBC News, Biden's reluctance to officially announce what he has already said privately is due to a number of factors: the lack of a serious rival in the Democratic Party; the fact that attention is now focused on the trial against Donald Trump; and the impending clash with Republicans in Congress over budget spending.
The publication notes that every time Biden has spoken publicly about his participation in the upcoming elections, he has warned that circumstances, political or personal, could change and affect his decision. However, presidential aides are convinced that he will run.
Another source familiar with the president's intentions said that Biden is in no hurry because of the struggle that is unfolding in the Republican Party. This refers, in particular, to Trump's attacks on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is considered a likely Republican candidate.
The US presidential election will be held on November 5, 2024. Biden will turn 82 that month.
