German technology found in Iranian drones used by Russia to bomb Ukraine - CNN
Russia may respond by sharing with the Iranians Western-made weapons and equipment seized in Ukraine on the battlefield

Iran, despite Western sanctions, continues to produce and supply drones containing Western technology, which Russia uses to bomb Ukrainian cities.
Source. CNN writes about this with reference to the British study Conflict Armament Research (CAR).
In particular, the researchers, studying evidence collected by Ukrainian security forces, found new evidence that the Shahed-136 drones that Iran sold to Russia are equipped with an engine based on German technology.
According to the researchers, Iran acquired this technology illegally almost 20 years ago.
"This conclusion, based on a detailed study of components seized in Ukraine and provided exclusively to CNN, underscores Iran's ability to imitate and improve on military technology it has illegally acquired," the report said.
In addition, CAR's research confirmed suspicions that the Iranian company Mado (Oje Parvaz Mado Nafar Company (Mado) manufactured engines that were used in drone attacks in Saudi Arabia in 2019 and in Ukraine in 2022.
According to the report, in 2006, German Limbach Flugmotoren L-550 UAV engines were illegally exported to Iran, and in 2009, Mado CEO Yousaf Abutalebi claimed that his company had successfully manufactured the internal engine of a drone.
According to CNN, Western officials are concerned that Russia may retaliate by sharing Western-made weapons and equipment seized from the Ukrainian battlefield with the Iranians.
Background. Meanwhile, it has been reported that Chinese components are increasingly being found in Russian weapons – fewer and fewer Western-made components and more Chinese ones.
