Ukraine signed a four-year partnership agreement with the OECD

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and Ukraine signed a four-year partnership agreement in Paris on Wednesday, June 7, aimed at Ukraine's admission to the organization, which brings together developed countries.

Source. This was reported by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The OECD-Ukraine partnership was formalized by OECD Secretary General Matthias Kormann and Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, who took part in a ministerial meeting of the organization in Paris in the format of a video conference.

The program of reforms and reconstruction of Ukraine for the next three years "will form the basis of Ukraine's reform and reconstruction program" and "will help the country make progress towards OECD and EU membership, which it is striving to achieve," the organization said in a statement.

Shmyhal noted that over the past six months, Ukraine has made significant progress in deepening cooperation with the OECD. In February, it joined the OECD Working Group on Bribery, and in March, the organization's Liaison Office was opened in Kyiv.

"We expect to join the OECD as a full member in the foreseeable future. This means new investment projects, new foreign companies in the Ukrainian market and better standards of living," the Prime Minister of Ukraine said.

Ukraine has been in dialogue with the OECD since October 2022, and this is a preliminary process on the way to membership in the institution that unites 38 developed countries. The OECD deals with economic issues, including tax transparency and corruption.

Cooperation with Ukraine will focus, in particular, on strengthening institutions and governance, fighting corruption, attracting private sector investment, and laying the foundations necessary to ensure the stable well-being of the population, emphasized Mathias Kormann.

Background. As a reminder, Shmyhal explained how compensation for destroyed housing in Ukraine will be calculated.
