The International Court of Justice will take into account the opinion of 32 countries on the so-called genocide in Ukraine
russia claimed that it sent troops to Ukraine to "prevent genocide"

The International Court of Justice will allow 32 countries to submit written opinions in a case in which Ukraine accuses russia of misapplying genocide law to justify its invasion of a neighboring country.
Source. This was reported by RFI.
In a statement issued on Friday, the UN's highest court said that countries should submit their views on the case by July 5.
Ukraine filed the lawsuit shortly after the start of russia's invasion on February 24, 2022, stating that russia's justification of "actions to prevent genocide in eastern Ukraine" was unfounded.
Ukraine said at the hearings last year that there is no threat of genocide in eastern Ukraine, and the 1948 UN Genocide Convention, which both countries signed, does not allow for an invasion to prevent genocide.
russia, which calls the invasion a "special military operation," skipped a hearing last year and called the lawsuit "absurd."
Background. As a reminder, Vodafone Ukraine is leaving the UN Global Compact network in protest.
