russia could have deported up to 300,000 Ukrainian children – Herasymchuk

According to rough estimates, russia may have deported around 200,000–300,000 children from Ukraine. Due to the occupation of regions and the lack of precise information about what happened to the children, it's hard to give an exact number. It's noted that the fate of only 19,499 children is precisely known.

Daria Herasymchuk, the President's Advisor and Authorized Representative on Child Rights and Rehabilitation, reported this in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

She pointed out that precise information was obtained through applications from parents, relatives, witnesses, and local authorities regarding the deportation and forced displacement of children and is kept in the National Information Bureau.

In addition, the advisor reported that Ukraine had managed to return 373 children from russia, however, there is no single mechanism for the return of Ukrainian children. There have been no negotiations regarding the return, and they cannot take place, as this would involve an exchange of one person for another.

Additionally, Herasymchuk clarified, each of the 373 children was returned via an individually designed special rescue operation. Due to the "manual mode" of rescue, the liberation takes significantly longer.

Background. Mind previously reported that putin had claimed the alleged "legal" exportation of children during the meeting with an African delegation.
