The ECHR has dismissed the rf's lawsuit in the case of "russia against Ukraine"

The European Court of Human Rights has dismissed the rf's lawsuit in the case of "russia against Ukraine".

This is reported on the institution's website.

The case arose based on the russian statement dated 22 July 2021. In the document, the aggressor accused Ukraine of murders, abductions, forced resettlement, interference with electoral rights, restrictions on the use of the russian language, and attacks on russian embassies and consulates.

In particular, the russian side tried to place the responsibility for the downing of the MH17 airliner on Ukraine, because "Ukraine did not close the airspace".

Furthermore, the kremlin complained about the blockage of the North-Crimean Canal and asked the court to apply temporary measures – to oblige Ukraine to restore the supply of water to Crimea and stop "oppressing the russian language".

"After a thorough investigation by the Court of the materials and evidence provided by the plaintiff state, and also taking into account the behaviour of russia and the absence of any cooperation since March 2022, the ECHR refused to satisfy the lawsuit in full and removed it from the case register," the statement reads.

Background. Earlier, Mind reported that the ECHR had announced its decision regarding the acceptability of the interstate case "Ukraine and the Netherlands against russia". This will help hold russia accountable for occupation and crimes.
