WSJ: The US seriously considering sanctions against Turkey for helping russia
The US does not want a worst-case scenario, so it is engaged in a dialog with the Turkish government

The United States and its allies are working to ensure that Western restrictions against russia are enforced, especially in Turkey. The U.S. government intends to take action against Ankara, which, despite warnings, is actively increasing its cooperation with moscow.
Source. The Wall Street Journal reports this citing American officials.
The United States is concerned that Turkey has become a center of sanctions violations. In particular, Turkish companies are buying dozens of tankers carrying russian oil, bypassing the G7 price ceiling, and the country itself is allowing the transit of American electronics and other sanctioned goods to russia for military purposes.
Washington is in constant contact with Ankara on these issues, says one Western diplomat. According to him, the United States hopes to avoid a scenario in which Turkish businesses are subjected to sanctions, so it is engaged in a dialogue with both the government and the private sector to warn of the "real risks" of retaliation.
Turkish companies play an important role in the shadow fleet that transports russian oil around the sanctions, and the WSJ reported on one of them – Beks Ship Management of Turkish textile magnate Ali Bekmezci, whose companies fulfill orders for brands such as H&M.
Over the past two years, Beks Ship Management has spent half a billion dollars on a fleet of dozens of old tankers covered by insurance that covers potential damage from tugs and dredges.
No russian trace has been found in the financing of the purchases, and Beks representatives say that they are not only transporting russian oil. The newspaper's experts consider the shadow fleet to be the number one environmental threat.
Background. According to Bloomberg, russia's attempts to circumvent Western sanctions could lead to an environmental disaster.
