NATO calls for simplification of military logistics in Europe amid possible conflict with Russia
According to experts, we need a "military Schengen" - a free passage zone for military equipment

Excessive bureaucratic red tape impedes the movement of troops across Europe, and this problem could lead to serious delays in the event of a conflict with Russia.
Source. Alexander Sollfrank, head of NATO's Joint Support and Enabling Command (JSEC), told Reuters.
"What we do not do in peacetime will not be ready in the event of a crisis or war," he said.
The Joint Staff Command, established in 2018, began operations in Germany in 2021. Its task is to coordinate the rapid movement of troops across the continent.
"The alliance has to move troops quickly from its bases to the right place on the eastern flank," Sollfrank said, adding that this requires training.
In his opinion, we need a kind of "military Schengen" – a zone of free passage of military equipment.
"We have to be one step ahead. We have to prepare the theater of operations long before Article 5 [of the NATO collective defense charter] is invoked," the general said.
"We have a surplus of rules, but the only thing we lack is time," warned Admiral Rob Bauer, Chairman of the NATO Military Committee.
"Russia's war against Ukraine has turned out to be a war of attrition, and a war of attrition is a battle of logistics," he added.
Background. As a reminder, according to German analysts, freezing Russia's war against Ukraine could lead to Russia's attack on NATO countries in 6-10 years.
