Philanthropists and members of the Czech security forces founded the Group D Association under the auspices of Czech Army Commander-in-Chief Karel Rzechko to launch a fundraiser for 10,000 drones, the publication writes.
"The Russians have realized the importance of drones on the battlefield and are increasing their production during the war. They do it in prisons and schools. We understand that we need to react somehow," says investor and army reserve soldier Jan Veverka.
In the coming days, the association will launch a public fundraiser called Nemesis, during which they plan to raise about 100 million crowns, which is equivalent to $4.5 million.
There are other fundraisers in the Czech Republic to help Ukraine, but according to Rzekhk, Group D's initiative is unique because it knows exactly what and where the Ukrainian army needs most thanks to its soldiers.
The Czech Army Commander-in-Chief explained that the project participants will make efforts to ensure that the drones are produced based on the knowledge and wishes received from Ukrainians.
According to Rzekhk, the formation of the association is also beneficial for the Czech army, as, like during the training of Ukrainian soldiers in the Czech Republic, it will also be able to acquire knowledge gained from the Russian-Ukrainian war.
As the publication reminds, on December 19, Czech volunteers completed fundraising for the purchase of 1,000 RPG-75M anti-tank grenade launchers for the 41st Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Background. As a reminder, the Czech Republic has approved the continuation of training for the Ukrainian military in 2024.
