The US believes that China uses artificial intelligence for large-scale hacking operations
With the help of AI, China is forming large amounts of collected information to target it to achieve goals

U.S. intelligence agencies have warned that China is not only stealing trade secrets in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), but is also using these technologies to collect and accumulate data on U.S. citizens on a scale that was previously impossible.
Source. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal.
"They are now working on using artificial intelligence to improve their already large-scale hacking operations, using our own technology against us," FBI Director Christopher Wray said earlier this year during a press conference in Silicon Valley.
China has denied any involvement in hacking US networks, claiming that the US itself is the "largest hacker empire" in the world and a "global cybercriminal."
Due to concerns about how China might use AI, the FBI director and heads of other Western intelligence agencies met with AI technology leaders in October to discuss the issue.
The United States accuses China of involvement in numerous hacks of computer networks of American companies, thanks to which Chinese hackers have become the owners of a huge database, so large that a human can hardly find the necessary patterns. But AI has no such limitations.
Microsoft believes that China is using AI capabilities to process these huge data sets, company president Brad Smith told The Wall Street Journal.
"The big question initially was whether anyone, including the Chinese, had the ability to use machine learning and essentially artificial intelligence to combine these data sets and then use them for targeting," he said.
Smith cited the 2021 Chinese-linked attack on tens of thousands of servers running Microsoft's email software as evidence of his words.
"We saw clear signs of very specific targeting," he said.
The United States believes that Chinese intelligence can match sensitive information with databases that hackers have stolen from American companies, health insurers, and banks over the years, including fingerprints, foreign contacts, financial debts, and personal medical records, to find and track undercover American spies and identify officials with security clearances.
Background. As a reminder, YouTube will label content created by artificial intelligence. The labeling will be added when the video is uploaded to YouTube and will take effect early next year.
