Boeing admits it was involved in the accident with the 737 Max 9 aircraft, which had a door torn off during the flight
The company's CEO promised to conduct the investigation "with absolute transparency"

Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun said that the company recognizes its mistake, which resulted in the emergency door of one of its aircraft (737 Max 9) being blown off during the flight last week.
According to the Financial Times, Calhoun was speaking at a company-wide safety meeting at the Washington plant where the 737 Max is manufactured. The meeting was broadcast to employees around the world, but was closed to the media.
"We are going to approach this issue by first of all recognizing our mistake. I have children, I have grandchildren, and so do you. (...) This is important. Every detail is important. We are going to work with the National Transportation Safety Board, which is investigating the accident itself, to find out the cause. I trust every step they take," said Dave Calhoun.
Boeing had to reassure customers after the incident because "moments like this shake them to the core," Calhoun added, and promised to conduct the investigation "with 100 percent transparency."
Boeing believes that a mistake was made in the supply chain for the aircraft, a source told CNN.
On January 7, it was reported that the United States, Europe and Turkey had suspended the operation of the Boeing 737 MAX 9.
Background. On January 5, 2024, an aircraft of this model made an emergency landing at Portland Airport 35 minutes after takeoff. During the flight, the emergency exit door was torn off the body. None of the passengers or crew were injured in the incident.
