Naftogaz announced that it will modernise the CHP plant together with Japanese Sumitomo Corporation and Komaihaltec
If the first experience is successful, it will be extended to other facilities

Naftogaz Group has signed memoranda with Japan's Sumitomo Corporation and Komaihaltec to modernise its thermal power plants and develop a joint wind energy project.
"Japan's Sumitomo Corporation (SC) will help conduct a feasibility study for the modernisation of heat supply systems in Ukraine with the support of the Japanese government," the company said on its website on Monday, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
SC will also help attract financing from Japanese state financial institutions.
"CHP plants in Ukraine, and especially those that were transferred to Naftogaz, were built a long time ago and have an extremely outdated material base. We are very interested in modernising them using advanced Japanese technologies. This is an important cooperation that we hope will lead to real infrastructure projects," said Oleksiy Chernyshov, the group's chairman, as quoted in the statement.
In turn, another memorandum with Komaihaltec provides for the installation of 1 MW wind turbines at one of the group's facilities.
"We hope that the project will meet our expectations and we will be able to extend the experience to other facilities of the group," Chernyshov said.
Background. As reported, the government has ordered Naftogaz to transfer 95% of last year's profit to dividends.
