Macron has "no doubt" that the upcoming Olympics in Paris will be a target for Russian attacks
This includes information attacks, he said

French President Emmanuel Macron has "no doubt" that the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris could be a target of malicious acts by Russia.
According to Sky News, Macron himself said this on Thursday at the opening ceremony of a water sports centre in the French capital.
"I have no doubt, including in terms of attacks in terms of information," Macron said, answering a journalist's question about whether Russia could threaten the Olympics.
Macron's statement is the most obvious acknowledgement of foreign threats to the security of the games, Reuters notes.
After the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall, the French authorities stepped up security measures. The upcoming Olympics will be guarded by tens of thousands of police, military and special agents, Sky News reports.
In recent months, the French president has taken a tougher stance on the war in Ukraine: he has not ruled out sending European troops to the conflict zone.
Foreign Minister Stéphane Séjourne said that Paris proposes to impose sanctions on those behind the spread of disinformation.
The day before, French Defence Minister Sébastien Lecorneau called his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu to discuss the attack in Crocus. At the same time, the Russian Defence Ministry reportedly lied about the content of the conversation between the French and Russian ministers – Paris did not show any readiness for a "dialogue with Moscow", the government said.
