Consul General of Ukraine in Lublin explains why there was a delay in issuing passports for travelling abroad

All citizens of Ukraine who have applied for a passport of a citizen of Ukraine for travelling abroad to the Consulate General of Ukraine in Lublin by 23 April will be able to receive the documents after they are delivered to the institution.

Source. Consul General of Ukraine in Lublin Oleh Kuts said this in a comment to Ukrinform.

The Consul General explained that since many consular services are automated and connected to the fact that consulates are connected to information interagency cooperation, they need to be brought in line with the requirements regulated by the law "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine on Certain Issues of Military Service, Mobilisation and Military Registration", which comes into force on 18 May.

Therefore, changes are being made to the technical part of the information interaction with other agencies to ensure that the Consulates General of Ukraine abroad can continue to provide services, as some services are within the competence of the Ministry of Justice, the Migration Service, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

As a result, consular services have been temporarily suspended for men aged 18 to 60.

"In our consular district, we do not observe any rush, as applicants often ask when such services will be resumed. They are sympathetic to our information that while changes are underway, such services will be provided later," Kuts emphasised.

According to him, the situation with the number of applications in his consular district may differ from other consular districts in Poland.

He noted that there has been an increase in the number of telephone calls from citizens regarding the information that people who have already received notifications that their passports are ready and can be picked up at the Consulate General will not be able to receive them.

"All documents that were submitted for processing before 23 April, including ready-made passports, are now being issued to everyone. Many people are worried that they have paid money and will not be able to get their documents. No, all people will receive their passports," said the Consul General of Ukraine in Lublin.

He clarified that on 23 April passports were not issued due to the expectation of additional clarifications, and from 24 April passports will be issued in the normal mode.

Background. Earlier it became known that about 300 Ukrainian men could not receive passports at one of the Polish consulates – people were informed that the documents were ready for issuance, but the employees of the office stopped working.
