Argentina refuses to supply Ukraine with aircraft purchased from France
After Russia's "disappointment", Buenos Aires says it will not provide any military assistance and will not interfere in the "conflict"

The Argentine authorities have refused to provide military assistance to Ukraine, but Buenos Aires is ready to provide humanitarian support to the country that is repelling Russian aggression, President Javier Milea's spokesman Manuel Adorni said.
"We are not going to provide any military support or intervene in the military conflict in any way," the Argentine daily Cronica quoted Adorni as saying. He added that Kyiv would be provided with humanitarian and logistical assistance.
According to Cronica, Russia expressed disappointment over the discussion of the possible transfer of Super Etendard attack aircraft to Ukraine, which are inoperable.
Russian Ambassador to Argentina Dmitry Feoktistov said that the transfer of military equipment to Ukraine would be seen as an unfriendly move. He expressed hope that Buenos Aires "will not interfere in the conflict".
On 12 June, Infobae reported that the Argentine authorities were discussing with France the possibility of transferring these aircraft to Ukraine. Argentina purchased Super Etendard aircraft in 2018, but they were not put into service due to the embargo imposed by the UK after the Falklands War.
Buenos Aires planned to exchange the attack aircraft for other equipment, while France was to repair them and hand them over to Kyiv.
The Dassault Super Etendard is a French supersonic deck attack aircraft. It made its first flight in 1974. It was supplied to Argentina, where it was used against British ships during the Falklands War. In 2015, France discontinued this type of aircraft. Currently, the Super Etendard is in service only with the Argentine Navy. A total of 85 aircraft of this type have been built.
Background. Earlier, it was reported that Argentina could join the supply of weapons to Ukraine – the country has joined the members of the Ramstein contact group.
