Bloomberg: Elon Musk donated 'significant' funds to Trump's campaign
This gives Republicans a major financial advantage, making the current presidential election the most expensive in US history

Billionaire Elon Musk has made a donation to a political group working to elect Biden's rival, former White House chief Donald Trump.
Source. Bloomberg reports this with reference to its own sources.
According to the agency's interlocutors, Musk contributed to a little-known group called America PAC. The amount of the businessman's donation is not specified, but its size is described as "significant".
The authors of the publication note that America PAC can receive unlimited political contributions, but must disclose the list of its donors on 15 July.
Previously, Musk denied any involvement in sponsoring political campaigns.
"To be very clear, I am not donating money to any of the US presidential candidates," he wrote on social media platform X.
The billionaire did not respond to a request from a number of global agencies for a new comment on the same topic.
The America PAC group is working for Trump "behind the scenes," Bloomberg writes, specifying that the most intensive campaigning and voter engagement efforts are being conducted in key states that will determine the outcome of the election.
Among the third-party organisations supporting Trump, America PAC is the largest payer for direct contacts with American voters. So far, it has spent $15.8 million, of which $13.1 million has gone to field activities, according to reports cited by Bloomberg.
The group also pays for paid media coverage, SMS texting and phone contacts with voters.
All of this gives Republicans a serious financial advantage, allowing them to spend money on Trump's official campaign, which will make the current presidential election the most expensive in US history, the article says.
In the past, Elon Musk and Donald Trump have had conflicts, but recently they have become closer, Bloomberg writes. The billionaire is now advising the ex-president on electric vehicles and cryptocurrencies.
"He calls me unexpectedly, for no reason," Musk said of his current relationship with Trump during Tesla's annual shareholders' meeting in June.
Trump, in turn, said he was a big fan of electric vehicles.
"I'm a fan of Elon. He's doing an incredible job with Tesla," Reuters quoted the former president as saying.
Currently, Elon Musk is at the top of the Bloomberg billionaires list with a net worth of $263.6 billion.
Background. Meanwhile, Democratic Party donors have frozen $90 million in donations until Biden withdraws his candidacy.
