Euro approaches parity with dollar for the first time in 20 years
Some Ukrainian banks are already buying dollars more expensively than euros

What happened? The exchange rate of the euro on the international market slid to a 20-year low and approached parity with the dollar. The last time such a situation took place was in December 2002.

Details. “The euro slid to a 20-year low and came closer to parity against the dollar on Monday on concerns that an energy crisis will tip the region into a recession, while the U.S. currency was boosted by expectations that the Federal Reserve will hike rates faster and further than peers,” the message says.
As of Tuesday, July 12, some Ukrainian banks are already buying dollars more expensively than euros. At PrivatBank, you can sell euros for UAH 36.30, and dollars for UAH 36.40.
