Ukraine claims destruction of 50 russian ammunition depots
Western partners give the same calculations
After the Armed Forces of Ukraine received American HIMARS multiple-launch missile systems, the Ukrainian military destroyed 50 russian ammunition depots. Reuters reports this with reference to the Minister of Defence of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov.
Strikes on depots cut the logistical chains of the russian military and take away their ability to conduct active combat operations, Reznikov says. He assures that the calculations of the Western partners coincide with the data of the Ukrainian authorities: “half a hundred objects where ammunition of the russian troops is stored” have been destroyed.
Ukraine has already received 12 HIMARS and a certain number of MLRS M270.
In the new package of military aid, the USA announced the supply of four more HIMARS and promised to bring the total number of these systems to 25-30 in prospect.
The Minister of Defence notes that the effective use of Western equipment increases the level of trust of partners in Kyiv. As a result, the Armed Forces receive more military aid.
Strikes on command posts and ammunition depots reduce the combat capability of the russian army in the Kherson region, which gives the Armed Forces of Ukraine an opportunity to start advancing in this direction, the Ukrainian authorities assure.
Serhii Khlan, adviser to the head of the Kherson military administration, says that last week Ukrainian forces conducted “a very successful strategic operation, as bridges that helped deliver ammunition and equipment to the enemy's network were destroyed.”
“It was a turning point in our struggle for Kherson,” he states.
Khlan adds that the operation was successful thanks to the coordination of the resistance movement in the occupied territories with Ukrainian forces.
“These are very accurate hits on ammunition depots, destruction of command posts and personnel, radar systems, and yesterday a whole bunch of S-300 systems that were shelling Mykolaiv were destroyed,” Khlan says.
Two russian counterattacks in Kherson were unsuccessful, the Ukrainian operational command South reported on Monday.
The armed forces of the russian federation retreated with losses.
Ukrainian combat aircrafts carried out several strikes on the Berislav district of Kherson. According to the General Staff, several tanks and howitzers were destroyed, as well as the command post of the 785th Detachment of the russian National Guard and two ammunition depots.
