Ukrainian military entered Lyman in Donetsk Oblast
This is a strategically important town for the further offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

More and more photos and videos are appearing on the Internet, which confirm that the Ukrainian military entered the town of Lyman, which is on the border of the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts in eastern Ukraine.
This is a strategically important point, the struggle around which has been going on for several weeks. The Armed Forces of Ukraine encircled the russian troops. Up to 5,500 russian occupiers could be surrounded, believes Serhiy Cherevaty, the spokesman of the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces.
According to russian military bloggers, the Ukrainian military has entered the town centre and is checking people's documents.
Photos and videos published by Ukrainian users and mass media on Telegram show Ukrainian military personnel hanging their country's flag at the entrance to Lyman. Other photos show equipment abandoned by the russians.
“The information and the video with the stele you saw are true. We are already in Lyman. But the battles are still ongoing. The details will be provided later,” Serhiy Cherevaty, the spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, states.
Earlier, Serhiy Cherevaty reported on the successes of the Ukrainian military in the vicinity of Lyman on the air of the national news marathon on October 1.
“The russian group in the area of Lyman is surrounded. The settlements of Yampil, Novoselivka, Shandryholove, Drobysheve, and Stavky are liberated. Stabilisation measures are ongoing there,” he said.
According to him, about 5,000-5,500 occupiers were surrounded in the area of Lyman.
The Ministry of Defence of the russian Federation has confirmed that russian troops withdrew from Lyman. According to the ministry, the troops took up more advantageous positions.
“Despite the losses, having a significant advantage in forces and means of struggle, the enemy threw in its reserves and continued the offensive in this direction,” the Ministry of Defence of the russian federation reported.
The head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, blamed General Aleksandr Lapin for the loss of Lyman by the russians.
“The colonel-general put mobilised fighters from the LPR and other units at all the frontiers of the Lyman direction, but did not provide them with the necessary communication, interaction and transportation of ammunition. He himself is holed up in Luhansk.
How is it possible to quickly manage units, being 150 km away from them? Due to the lack of basic military logistics, today we have left several settlements and a large area of the territory. It's disappointing that Gen. Lapin is incompetent.
And the fact that top managers in the General Staff are turning a blind eye to his actions. If I had my way, I would reduce Gen. Lapin to a ranks, deprive him of his awards and send him to the front line with a machine gun in his hands to wash away his shame with blood,” wrote the head of Chechnya.
Lyman, with a population of 20,000 people, had been under russian occupation since the end of May.
Previously. We will remind, that the day before, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the liberation of the village of Yampil.
