Sown areas this year will be reoriented to oil crops – Ministry of Agrarian Policy
Their cost is twice higher than grain one
What happened? The sown areas of Ukraine in 2023 will be reoriented from grain crops to oil crops.
Source. Taras Vysotsky, the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, during the national TV marathon, Ukrinform reports.
Details. "Oil crops have a lower yield per hectare, since their gross yield is less in weight, but the cost is 2-2.5 times higher compared to grain," he said.
According to Mr. Vysotsky, in addition to rapeseed, the areas will be sown with soybeans and sunflowers. The total amount of harvested crops will be less by 10-15%, but will be compensated by higher prices.
He emphasised that oilseeds in Ukraine were export-oriented.
