Poland opposes ban on registration of new cars with internal combustion engines

The Solidarity Poland party opposes a ban on the registration of new cars with internal combustion engines after 2035.

Source. This was reported by "Polish Radio".

The party's spokesman, MP Jacek Ozdoba, said at a press conference that the ban would increase costs, and each car buyer should decide for himself what kind of vehicle he wants to buy.

"We cannot impose a ban – the market must determine this, each of us must decide whether we want to drive a car with an internal combustion engine or an electric car. We are not saying no to electric cars, we are saying no to a ban from above," the official said.

Polish Deputy Minister of Justice Michal Vosz announced actions that will lead to the lifting of the ban:

"In the energy package, issues related to the energy balance should be adopted unanimously. This rule was violated here, and the decision was made by a qualified majority. We will do everything to have this law repealed," said Michal Wosz.

The ban on the registration of new cars with internal combustion engines is part of Fit for 55, a package of measures to implement the EU's climate goals under the European Green Deal. The ban will be effective from 2035 and will apply to new cars with internal combustion engines.

It will still be possible to register used gasoline and diesel cars, but the European Parliament has announced an increase in the cost of fuel, maintenance, purchases and insurance.

The text of the legal act must be approved by the Rada. Then it will be published in the Official Journal of the EU.

Background. As reported, Europe has banned the sale of gasoline and diesel cars since 2035. Traditional cars can still be used, but they can only be refueled with environmentally friendly fuel.
