Employees of the Russian presidential administration have been banned from using iPhones made by the American company Apple.

According to them, smartphones must be disposed of by April 1, a deadline set by First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Serhiy Kiriyenko.
The reason for this requirement is security considerations, as iPhones are allegedly easier to hack and can be used by Western intelligence services. "It is recommended that iPhones be replaced with smartphones running the Android operating system, Chinese counterparts, or the Russian Aurora OS, developed by a subsidiary of Rostelecom.
In June 2022, it was reported that Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko instructed the head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, Maksut Shadayev, to inform the heads of Russian regions that they should use only Russian messengers. Later, Russian officials were recommended to replace Zoom with the Russian program Trueconf.
And starting March 1, 2023, according to a new law, state organizations in Russia are prohibited from using foreign messengers.
