Poland has promised to build an apartment building for Ukrainian pilots and families of fallen Ukrainian defenders in the town of Vasylkiv in Kyiv region, on the site of a building destroyed by Russian shelling.

Source. This is reported on the website of the Vasylkiv City Council.

The city authorities have signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Polish state holding Polimex. Its pilot project will be the construction of an apartment building "on the site of a building destroyed by enemy shelling."

Instead of a 5-story building, a 9-story building is planned, which will provide housing not only for the 70 families who lived in the building before the war, but also for Ukrainian military pilots and families of Ukrainian soldiers who died defending Kyiv region.

"The ghost of Kyiv is a collective image of all Vasylkiv pilots. Our courageous military pilots of the 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade destroyed at least 20 enemy aircraft and thus protected the city and Kyiv region from serious destruction and blocked their path to capture," the city council said in a statement.

According to Interfax-Ukraine, citing Viktor Dovgan, an advisor to Polimex holding, the construction project "is already entering the expert review," and its estimated budget is about UAH 240 million, of which only UAH 40 million is available in the local budget.

"The memorandum is the first step," says Dovhan. – "Our Polish partners are now analyzing the project documentation, and in June we expect confirmation from the Polish Ministry of Finance on the provision of a soft loan under state guarantees for EUR 5 million. Perhaps part of it will be a grant, perhaps part will be Polish construction materials – all the details will be worked out in the next month."

Background. As reported, Europe's largest coal exporter, Weglokoks, will help reconstruct a bridge in Rivne region.
