Russian and Belarusian defense ministers sign agreement on deployment of nuclear weapons in Belarus
This gives Russia control over Belarus for years to come, and creates an even greater threat to Ukraine and the whole of Europe

During a bilateral meeting in Minsk, the defense ministers of Belarus and Russia signed documents defining the procedure for keeping Russian non-strategic nuclear weapons on the territory of the republic.

According to the Belarusian ministry, the documents signed by the ministers define "the procedure for keeping Russian non-strategic nuclear weapons in a special storage facility."
And Russian Minister Shoigu emphasized that "Russia is not transferring nuclear weapons to the Republic of Belarus: control over them and the decision to use them remains with the Russian side."
"This deployment of nuclear weapons directly violates our non-nuclear status, enshrined in the Constitution, and ensures Russia's control over Belarus for years to come, as well as creates an even greater threat to the security of Ukraine and the whole of Europe," said Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tikhanovskaya.
In March, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin announced an agreement with Alexander Lukashenko on the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus. On April 26, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Belarusian military had studied in detail the use of special tactical ammunition of the Iskander-M missile system during training in Russia.
According to publicly available data, special tactical ammunition is the ammunition for the Iskander-M system with a nuclear warhead.
On April 14, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that it had completed training of the Belarusian military in the operation of Su-25 attack aircraft. According to the report, new ways of using modern aviation weapons, including special ammunition, were mastered during the training.
On April 26, the anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, Belarusians protested in Warsaw, Toronto, Batumi, Berlin, Vilnius, and other cities around the world to oppose the deployment of nuclear weapons in Belarus.
