Microcredit increased by 39% in the first three months of 2023
However, the number of microcredits in 2023 is still half less compared to the corresponding period before the onset of the full-scale war
The sum of microcredits taken by Ukrainians in the first quarter of 2023 increased by 39%. The average transaction amount almost reached the level on the eve of the full-scale invasion – 4,912 UAH.
Opendatabot reports this, citing the data of the National Bank of Ukraine.
"If the debt on microcredits decreased by 5 billion UAH during 2022, then microcredit is picking up speed in Q1 of 2023. Thus, in the first three months of this year, the Ukrainians' indebtedness to MFIs increased by 663 million UAH – to 8.7 billion UAH," the statement reads.
Compared to the previous period – the last quarter of 2022 – the amount and number of concluded microloan agreements also increased. Thus, in three months of this year, the amount of microcredits taken increased by 39% and reached 9.23 billion UAH.
During this time, almost 1.9 billion new contracts were concluded. This is 18% more than in Q4 of the previous year.
At the same time, the number of microcredits in 2023 is still almost half less than in the corresponding period in 2021 before the start of the full-scale war. Then, 3.52 billion microcredit agreements were concluded.
On average, in 2023, 627 million new non-bank loans are concluded per month. In 2021, this figure was 1.17 billion new microcredit agreements per month.
From quarter to quarter, the average amount of microcredits is growing. In the first quarter of this year, the average transaction amount reached the period before the eve of the full-scale invasion: 4,912 UAH compared to 5,079 UAH in the first quarter of 2022.
